Used to be better, could still be again.
I've been playing on CatCraft for nearly two years, and for most of that time I would have happily given it 5 stars. The community is generally welcoming, the survival experience is enjoyable, and I've made some great friends here. My daughter and I play together, and it's become one of our favorite ways to spend time together.
The server has solid rules in place to promote a family-friendly environment, and features like land claims do a great job of protecting players from griefing. The economy is based on diamonds, though player-to-player trading is also common, which adds to the experience.
The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of how player conduct has been handled recently. While the vast majority of players are respectful, there are a small number of individuals who repeatedly bully, harass, or target others for no apparent reason. Unfortunately, it often feels like those players receive far more leniency than the people they're targeting. Rather than addressing repeated patterns of behavior, the response is sometimes simply to tell the person being harassed to use /ignore, even when the harassment continues through other means.
I also want to be fair and point out that this doesn't apply to all staff members. Many of them are friendly, helpful, and genuinely care about the community. My concern is that there seems to be some inconsistency in moderation. As a long-time player, it's become difficult not to notice that certain players appear to receive more benefit of the doubt than others, especially when they're well-known or have invested a lot in supporting the server. Whether that's intentional or not, it creates the perception that the rules aren't always applied equally, and perceptions like that can have a real impact on a community.
Even with those concerns, I still believe CatCraft has a lot to offer. There are many kind, helpful players who just want to build, explore, and enjoy Minecraft together. My hope is simply that the staff returns to consistently enforcing the welcoming, family-friendly environment that made so many of us fall in love with the server in the first place.
